The Cannoneer
by Silvia Manazzone

13 - 17 October, 7.30 pm

You probably already know everything about the three Italian Wars of Independence, about the Unification of Italy in 1860, about the Borboni, the Royal family from Spain who ruled over Sicily and Naples for over 120 years, about General Garibaldi and his thousand volunteers.

And of course you already know everything about Peppa, the orphan from Catania, who dropped the skirt, no, not to live naked, but to acquire male attire for the rest of her life. Who went from being despised by society to single-handedly defeating the cavalry of the Borboni and thus saving the lives of her companions.

Of course you already know all of it, right?... Right?? YOU DON'T?!...

Then you bloody better come to this show and hear it from the horse’s mouth!!!!

THE CANNONEER - The true story of Giuseppa (Peppa) Bolognaro Calcagno (1826? or 1841? - ?????)
