At last, a show that depicts young love in its proper setting! That setting, of course, being the House of Lords getting thoroughly dismantled by fairies.
Lovers Strephon and Phyllis want nothing more than to be married, quickly – but when a gaggle of aristocrats scupper their plans, Strephon’s aunt determines to fight on their side. And since Strephon’s aunt is the fairy queen, she just might come out victorious. . .
Helmed by a multicultural and international creative team and performed by some of London’s finest emerging professional actor-singers, this new production of Iolanthe approaches the beloved Victorian libretto and score with youthful zest and fresh spirit, in an immersive production that will transform the entire Barons Court Theatre space into a fairy glade and a Parliament bar. With imaginative choreo, jubilant music, and silliness to spare, Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic classic has never felt more romantic, more wild, or more plain giddy fun.
Twisted Cue is a newly formed professional company dedicated to approaching the classics of musical theatre with a fresh drive and energy.
Director Robyndra Allen comes straight from assisting on an Off-West End Award nominated and Pub Theatre award-winning production of The Mikado. The cast includes emerging talent from the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music, and Trinity Laban, as well as award-winning fringe theatre makers from London and abroad.
