Ellie wants to get on. Move up. Get ahead for once.

She can't do that on her own, so when she lands a cushy mentorship scheme, she thinks she's finally on her way.

But when Ellie meets her new mentor Patrick, an older artist who hides away painting abstracts in a dingy studio, she's sure she buzzed the wrong flat.

Ellie pushes Patrick to the limit and then some. As banter turns to barbs that cut too close to the quick, Ellie and Patrick find themselves in a standoff of culture, class and secrets.

Jonathan Skinner returns to the Barons Court Theatre (Everything's Brilliant, 2022) with the world premiere of his award-winning play Provenance, directed by Artistic Director Sharon Willems.

Jonathan and Sharon previously collaborated on his play Indignitas for Little Pieces of Gold and the Criterion West End New Writing Showcases.

Ellie

Martha Lyn

Martha is a Welsh/English actor based in London. Initially with a degree in Psychology, Martha went on to pursue acting, training at RADA before getting her first project as a lead in the Ukrainian play ‘Life is Absurd but Love is Good’ by Asia Pshenychna which performed at the Etcetera Theatre and the Cockpit Theatre.

In the summer, Martha has also secured a secondary role in an upcoming feature film shooting in August called 'Life and Flowers and Other Things' from director Pelayo De Lario, working alongside Aitana Sanchez Gijon, Anna Castillo and Lambert Wilson.

Patrick

Saul Marron

A native Scot, Saul honed their craft on the classics at East 15 drama school, while also developing a talent for jazz hands, bold choices, and exiting being pursued by a bear.

He appeared as series regular James Mackenzie in BBC/HBOs Gentleman Jack, where they sported era-defining muttonchops, and also spent ten years in the West End wrangling chaos and iambic pentameter in Sh!tfaced Shakespeare.

They wrote, directed, and starred in the award winning Chantelle: Psychic P.D, an 80s-inspired kitsch mini-series for Revry.tv that defies logic, taste, and features more costume changes than plot points.

Voiceover credits include various shouty characters in Judge Dredd, blatantly ripping off Matt Berry as the titular Springheeled Jack, and brooding heroically in Brink, all for Penguin Audiobooks.

Sharon Willems

Sharon is the Artistic Director of Barons Court Theatre and Kibo Productions. Recent directing credits include the 5-star world premiere of Three Queens by Rosamund Gravelle (2024, Kibo Productions, London Pub Theatre Award Finalist - Director), Complete Sex by Monica Maffía (2024), The Lamb Disagrees by Eratle Wang (2023) Tea Set by Gina Moxley (Kensington + Chelsea Festival, 2021), Small Hours by Lucy Kirkwood and Ed Hime (Catalyst Festival, 2021), Rice and Peas by Mia Jerome (Blouse and Skirt, R&D, 2021). Recent projects: Curating and directing for the Reboot Festival (2021-2025), dramaturg for The Light From Below: Stories from Ukrainian Basements (2022), Community Creates (Hampstead Theatre, 2022-23), curating and producing Queering the Canon (2023), reader for the RSC’s 37 Plays Project and founder of Barons Court Theatre’s monthly scratch night with a difference, The Sunday Fix.

Writer

Jon Skinner

Jon's work has appeared extensively on the London fringe, throughout the UK and in New York, Los Angeles and Sydney as well as productions in Italy, Ireland, and Dubai. Jonathan won the Transition Stage Company’s Enter Stage Write at the Birmingham Hippodrome and was shortlisted for the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing. His work has been showcased twice at The Criterion Theatre in London’s West End. Other stage credits include: BUFF (Pleasance Theatre, London); SPIT OR SWALLOW? (Theatre Royal, Stratford East); EGGSHELLS (Royal Court Studio, Liverpool); CURTAINS (Robert Moss Theatre, New York).

As a screenwriter Jon’s WORMHOLES won the 2024 IMDb / FilmBath Script-to-Screen Award and the Richmond International Screenwriting Festival. His short film INDIGNITAS starring MARK ADDY (The Full Monty) was an official selection for the BAFTA-qualifying 2024 Hollyshorts London Film Festival.
